The prototype of the soundscape generator “ANH-00”, which applies genetic algorithms, will be unveiled for the first time at the electronic music × digital art festival “MUTEK Japan”.

This work is the second model equipped with the “ALIFE Engine”, an alternative machine dynamics engine, following the android “Alter 3”.

“ANH-00” is based on the “Acoustic Niche Hypothesis”. It collects ambient sound and autonomously generates new sounds to naturally fill any gaps in the environmental frequency bandwidth, including sounds beyond the range of human hearing. These diverse sounds are emitted from multiple speakers at intricate timings. This is not a mere system that records and plays back natural sounds, but instead, it produces a rich soundscape adapted to the on-site sound environment in real-time.
